If You Persist In Knocking, One Day You Will Rejoice In Entering

A 65 year old Florida woman, we will call her Zena, was dying to become a U.S. citizen. She applied on her own and failed the first time, the second time, the third time, and a fourth time.

At the fourth denial of her U.S. citizenship, Form N-400, she was yelled at by the USCIS Officer: "Don't file again unless you hire a lawyer."

So Zena hired an Immigration lawyer licensed in NY but authorized to practice Immigration law in Florida. This lawyer was sure he would get her approved. He had the swagger and confidence she needed to get over the hump and to become a U.S. citizen. He too failed, as Zena was denied a fifth time.

Depressed as hell, many of her friends told her to give up. Five times is way beyond reasonable. "If G-d wanted you to be a U.S. citizen, it would have come already. Please Zena, stop torturing yourself, losing your money, and having so much stress."

But Zena is a warrior. She will never admit defeat. She made a concerted and exhaustive effort to find the one lawyer who is famous for decades of success, especially difficult cases, who is a perfectionist with details, and well known and respected by Immigration Officers. He or she also had to speak her native language, Hebrew.

Finally, she was told that Alex Barak would be the best fit and choice for her sixth attempt at citizenship. Zena hired him and he prepared for her a robust case with details never before produced. He felt confident that his legal presentation by far was the best of all six attempts and he believed she would be approved with the additional vital evidence he directed to be collected.

On Uncle Abe's birthday, Abraham Lincoln, today, February 12, 2021, Zena went to an interview with Alex Barak at the local Immigration office and was approved for U.S. citizenship. Finally, the sixth attempt was a charm. A sweet victory for Zena, who will cherish her American citizenship for the rest of her life.

Zena persisted in knocking on the door to citizenship, and now she will rejoice in entering.
